I know. I know. "I need to do more video." You have heard it a hundred times. And every time you think: "I do not have the equipment. I do not have the time. I hate being on camera."
Here is the good news. AI has changed what is possible. You do not need a camera crew. You do not need editing software. You do not even need to be on camera if you do not want to be.
Why Video Matters More Than Ever
Social media platforms prioritise video. Posts with video get more reach, more engagement, and more clicks than text or images alone. Google is increasingly showing video in search results. And video lets people see your personality โ which builds trust faster than any written post.
Ignoring video is leaving money on the table. AI makes it doable.
Option 1: AI-Generated Videos
Tools like Google's Veo and other AI video generators can create actual video content from a text description. You describe what you want โ "a 15-second video showing a clean, modern office space with natural light" โ and AI generates it.
This is brilliant for b-roll, background footage, or visual content where you do not need to be on screen.
Option 2: Script Writing With AI
If you are happy to be on camera (even just your phone camera), the hardest part is knowing what to say. AI writes your scripts.
Ask it: "Write a 60-second video script for a social media Reel about [your topic]. I run a [your business] in [your area]. The script should open with a hook, share one useful tip, and end with a call to action. Keep the language conversational โ like I am talking to a customer face to face."
You will get a script you can read naturally. No stumbling. No "ums."
Option 3: Turning Blog Posts Into Videos
If you have been writing blog posts (see my post on AI for blogging), you already have video scripts. Ask AI: "Turn this blog post into 3 short video scripts โ one for Reels, one for LinkedIn, one for YouTube Shorts. Each should be under 60 seconds and capture the key point."
One blog post becomes three videos. That is efficient.
Option 4: AI Voiceovers
If you do not want to be on camera, AI can generate professional voiceovers from your scripts. Tools like Google's AI speech generation create natural-sounding audio in multiple voices and languages.
Write a script with AI. Generate a voiceover with AI. Add some images or footage. You have a professional video without ever picking up a camera.
Option 5: Video Descriptions and Captions
Once you have a video, you need descriptions, captions, and hashtags for each platform. Ask AI: "I have created a 30-second video about [topic] for [platform]. Write a caption, 5 relevant hashtags, and a 100-character video description optimised for search."
Start With One Video
Do not try to become a content studio overnight. Start with one video. Pick one topic. Use AI to write the script. Film it on your phone (propped up, good light, quiet room). Post it. See what happens.
The first one will feel awkward. The fifth one will feel natural. The twentieth one will be second nature.
Video is where attention is. AI removes every excuse you had for not doing it. So go and make one.
